Following an internship in transitional medicine at the Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, Dr. Mizener completed his ophthalmology residency training at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Mizener was on staff at the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology from 1993 to 1995, and served as interim director of the Comprehensive Ophthalmology Service in the Department of Ophthalmology from 1993 to 1994. He completed his formal medical education with fellowship training in glaucoma at the University of Iowa. In addition to his work and faculty experience at the University of Iowa, Dr. Mizener served as a glaucoma specialist and general ophthalmologist at an Omaha ophthalmology practice from 1996 to 2003.
