Dr. Blacklock is a board certified ophthalmologist who joined Somers Eye Center in 2020 after practicing for many years in the Northland and Kansas City metro. She received her medical degree from Kansas University School of Medicine where she completed a combined M.D.-Ph.D. program for physicians with interests in clinical care of patients as well as research.

Her Ph.D. work was in Physiology. She then completed an Internal Medicine internship with the University of Washington School of Medicine at the Boise, Idaho Veteran’s Administration Hospital. This was followed by a residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Minneapolis. Dr. Blacklock provided eye care in Wichita and Hutchinson, Kansas, prior to returning to Kansas City.
Dr. Blacklock performs cataract surgery and some glaucoma procedures. She also performs comprehensive eye exams for glasses and contact lenses, as well as eye exams focused on a variety of eye diagnoses, including dry eye problems, ocular allergies, diabetes, retinal problems, glaucoma, iritis, and eye injuries.
