He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. At UT Houston, Dr. Wollan went on to complete a residency in general ophthalmology and a fellowship in glaucoma care. He also completed an internship in internal medicine and general surgery at the UT Houston. Dr. Wollan is a member of a number of medical organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Texas Ophthalmological Society.

Dr. Wollan attended high school in Austin where he met his wife to be, Megan. While in medical school he and Megan married. She is a practicing anesthesiologist here in Austin. They have been married for over 20 years and are raising three children near the same school where they met.
